Expectations

Expectation and Standards

Clothing/Equipment: It's mandatory to wear clean clothes daily. No jean, clothing with zippers or jewelry. Metal or hard plastic present a safety hazard to teammates and the mats!

It is important to be prepared with the appropriate clothing and equipment in a team environment. We are asking to be dressed down with the following criteria. T-Shirt, shorts, wrestling shoes, and hair tie (if needed). Club shoes are available for borrowing, just talk with coaching staff.

**Head gear is not required but suggested. If an athlete has braces, a mouth guard is required

The club has new uniforms available for check out.

Communication:  Any questions or concerns about the team or coaching staff should be directed tot he Head Coach. We encourage email, as it is the best way to get a hold of the coach. If there is a problem that is not being handled by the Head Coach please contact the Athletic Director by email.

Dual/Meets/Tournaments: Athletes need to be on time and prepared for meets. There are several informal crab pools Wednesday night competitions available at no cost. The Club will be taking care of registration at three tournaments on the schedule. They will be designated as such on the calendar. Other tournaments are available for competition at the USA Oregon Website, https://www.wrestleoregon.com/owa-schedule.

Athletes should come prepared with all necessary equipment. They are expected to bring healthy food for the tournament because adequate fuel is important to the athletes' performance.

Hygiene: Showering every day is a must. If the parent or athlete notices anything out of the normal on the skin we need to be notified before the next practice. Mats are cleaned before and after practice. A clean mat room is a happy mat room.

Additional Expectations:

>Transportation will not be provided to and from meets/tournaments. Neither will hotels. Post season wrestling may include multi-day tournaments and we'll discuss further when we have a better grasp of who will be competing.

>Zero tolerance for public display of affection (PDA) and bullying.

>Athletes/parents are responsible for uniforms checked out to them.

>Athletes will be held accountable for their behavior. Any disruption or behavioral issues in practice or competition will result in immediate consequences such as sitting out the rest of practice. Repetitive issue may result in dismissal from the Club. Wrestling practice is not a daycare facility. If there is a problem, the head coach is available for further discussion.

>Athletes will demonstrate good sportsmanship and behavior on and off the mat. They are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that represents the Cottage Grove Wrestling Club and our community in a manner that is positive and respectful.

>Parents are to watch from the stands. No standing at the mats. Parents set precedence for the athletes and should be positive example to them. We ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner that represents our school and community.

>Have fun and enjoy the season.

We are looking forward to a great Wrestling season. With everyone working together, this will be a positive experience. Please feel free to contact your coach with any questions or concerns. In order to compete, the athlete must return  signed the expectations and standard sheet.

Parent communication is the key to development and coordination of the learning aspect of your child's future. Parents are asked to contact the coach in a timely fashion when concerns come up. Concerns during matches or practice are not an appropriate time. Please email, call, or talk after practice to schedule a time to discuss your concerns that works for both you and the coach. If you are upset about a match experience, the coaches will not speak to you about concerns until 24 hours after a meet. This ensures a more positive and successful conversation that will support the child.
